Bench racing within...

got in a lil heated debate with my boy the other day...i say a healthy M6 LT1 car can run 12's with just 4:30's, full exhaust, slicks, and freemods...he says no way, does anyone have any firsthand experience on this subject?

I think it is possible. Free mods would have to include some weight reduction maybe, but with slick's, full exhaust and a good launch without wheel spin on those 4:30's would be pretty close. Where would the 4:30's put you at the finish line RPM wise?

Re: Bench racing within...

When it comes to selecting the optimum 1/4 mile gearing for each car application, it is a combination of both gears and slick height. For example; I have 3.73s with 26” x 11.5 ET Streets (not too tall) which keeps me geared correct. 4.30s alone without the correct matching tire height (possibly 28” to 29”) would be too low for stock RPM and torque curve. Then the 28” and above tires will require body modifications to fit.

Based on my LT experience, I believe 12s would be very difficult with only the mods you’ve mentioned (been there, done that and got in the 12s). The other option is for you to perform the mods and prove your point. I could be wrong.
