battery relocation -- Ground location

I recently relocated my battery but my ground location is not in the best place. Does anyone here have pictures of there ground location - I need a good ground location. Also do I need to run 2 grounds or will 1 ground be good enough -- I disconnected and cutt off the stock (-) factory cables. Not sure why - I figured I no longer needed them

Re: battery relocation -- Ground location

I ran my ground (00) all the way up to the front and connected it to the factory 3 way connector that attaches to the battery. This way, I am connected to all three factory grounds. I did the same with the positive cable.

That way, it is hooked up basically stock and I can put the battery back up front if I want to sell it.

How did you route the wires from the rear to the engine compartment? Did you have to drill thru the firewall?

I ran my wire from underneath the car. I covered the wire with wire loom. I dont drive the car in the rain or winter. It's basically a weekend summer car.

My wires are run through the firewall. I grounded the battery in the rear and the front, and I retained my stock block ground although with a much heavier cable. Putting the battery in the rear basically you want the best cables you can buy. Also, you need to hook up an external kill switch if you want to run at a local track.

I ran the wires inside the car and under the plastic cover that runs along the passenger door to the front. I had to drill the firewall under the heater. Pull the ECM to get access to the wires and then run them along the inner fender well up to the original battery location. Used rubber grommets and silicone sealer when going through the firewall.

Re: battery relocation -- Ground location

It is NOT necessary to run the neg. cable to the front of the car. Just to the steel body near the battery.
I recommend using the aviation style braided cable, similar to this, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...tegoryId=10367 , but larger size.

However, if you do this, you do need to increase both the number and size of the engine to body ground wires. Also make sure that accessories that were connected to the neg. bat. terminal are grounded to the engine or steel chasis particularly with the front having so much plastic. Make sure the ground is metal to metal and sprayed with connector paint, (seals and resist corrosion).
