Battery Relocation:

I run at a NHRA track. I want to relocate my battery to the back of the car. I got a Moroso sealed box, optima battery, and flaming river kill switch. Do I have to mount the box to the frame and install a rear bulkhead?

You don't need a firewall/bulkhead, if you have an NHRA compliant sealed and vented battery box. That is the purpose of the box.

Just make sure the box is attached to the floor properly. Use large fender washers under the floor. You don't want a simple 3/8" nut and lockwasher pulling through the floor.

When properly installed the box is attached to the floor and the battery is attached to the box.

The Moroso box is an approved sealed box. An extra hole will need to be drilled in the floor so that the vent tube can go outside the car.

When wiring the kill switch in it must be on the positive cable. The OFF position must be clearly marked. If mounted in a push/pull design, push must be off. When the switch is turned off it must kill all the electrical components in the car and kill the engine. This means having to wire in a relay to disconnect the alternator field wire or else the alternator will keep the engine running.
