Automatic Racing Tips...
Do you guys have any tips for draging with a automatic. I know power brakeing where you hold down the break and rev your RPMs to about 2-3K, then let go of the brake and step on the gas at the start but is there any other techniques to this or is it just hold down the gas after that.
Thanks

Here's a basic auto tip that will help your consistency. Once you "pre-stage" while holding you left foot on the brake, bring-up your RPM and compete the "stage" with the converter and drive-train loaded.
Next, using the technique above try different launch (stall) RPMs, as some converters prefer to be flashed off the line from low stall RPMs for the best performance. While others do not and work best with a high RPM stall. Use your 60ft times to determine which works best for your car.

With a "stock" vehicle, just load up the converter enough to take any slop out of the driveline. When the last yellow of the christmas tree comes on, let go of the brake and push the throttle to the floor at the same time. By the time you and the car react, the light will be green as you break the starting line timer.
Without knowing exactly what kind of setup you plan on racing, it's hard to give proper advice.

Also, if you're not used to going to the track, don't rush into the staging beams. Take your time rolling into the final staging beam, because being 2-3 inches deeper into the beams will slow your ET a little.
I like to leave off of idle kicking at the last amber light. have gotten a 1.91 60' with 235 eagles street tires
I light the top yellow light then creep up until the second yellow is lit and stop, focusing on the bottom amber light, left foot on break right foot on gas. shifter in D letting the computer do the shifting. don't watch the other car at all, concentrate on your bottom light. don't worry about what others are doing focus on you,
watch the video of the vet below I didn't know he pulled to far up until I found the video
Is this the twin turbo in your sig? probably need to spool up against the converter to get some boost. Im sure youve done it on the street.

Best thing I can tell you is just go to the track and make passes and try different thing. Every car is alittle different so some thing might work, while others won't. Once you have a technique that works keep doing it, soon you'll be able to do it without thinking and then that's when you can really start to concentrate on cutting a killer bulb.

try as many different combos as you can as described above. My stock stall had a better 60' when I mashed it from idle. It would flash a little higher than it I preloaded it. Best 60' with stock stall was a 1.9x 1 time. Mostly 2.0x on street tires. See sig for stall and DR.

Seat time is key....
I've found it best to do a second gear burnout. (So that first gear wont take a crap eventually, I'm on trans #2 as it is.) Get to the line, with slicks, rev it up until the tires ALMOST spin. Let off the brake with the left foot and pound the right when the light falls. Shift through the gears, even though it is an automatic. If you have a programmer and have adjusted the rev limiter, move the shifter into the next gear about 500 rpms before it hits the limiter. Its about the safest and best way to run the Autotrans. Don't just leave it in "D". Causes a lot of damage. And you actually do run a wee bit quicker.
