8.5 @ 153mph hitting the limiter

This is a customers car, engine was in his Z28 but it was emissions legal and he wanted to go faster than 9.8 @ 143mph (SC only) (9.4 w/ N20) so he put the setup in a race car.

Car

Tube Chassis Opel Vectra Race Car, 2800lbs

Motor

383 LT1, LE Ported TFS Heads, BRE Race Only Cam and Valvetrain (Hyd Roller), F1 Blower and meth/water inj no IC etc....

Times...

60 ft 1.25
1/8 mile 5.42 @ 128.6mph
1/4 mile 8.57 @ 151.6mph

They are waiting on some larger tires since the motor was on the rev limiter for around the last 2 secs of the run. That shows up in the slow 1/4mile ET and MPH compared to the 1/8th ET and MPH. I'm guessing maybe a 8.3 @ 160mph when it's sorted out.

So what is this second quickest in history and the quickest currently running LT1? I guess when you don't try and overpower the LT1 block and not run the motor in a 3500lbs car the thing will live!

Video Of Run

BTW I have a motor in the shop that is for sale that I'll be putting up in the For Sale section that needs to go, it's very similar to this motor except built for street duty.

Sounds familiar, F1, water/meth injection, one of your cams.

Yeah, but luckily 1,000lbs less to move!

Anyone wonder why it's in a Opel yet?

Yeah guy is in Sweeden, that's why it's a "odd" car. Either way I like that odd stuff.

The thing made 780rwhp with some tire slip and RPM pickup problems, hence no dyno charts, but it's easily making that kind of power to run that.

The coolest thing about this is the cam in this car has a LSA so low, nobody would believe it if they saw it and it's low enough that most circle track guys would be scared of it!

yep, but not by much. I wouldn't have put that cam in there if it wasn't the best thing to get him down the track.

I think I should send him Patrick G's number so he can give him a "real" blower bumpstick.

THE GOAL FOR THIS CAR WAS A 8.5! That's why he e-mailed me about it. Should out run that goal pretty well.
