60 ft Improvement

What is the best way for the dollar to improve your 60 foot time. Then what would be the best mod if money was no object. This is for my buddies 96 A4 bird... He has great top end, but sucks the first 60 and he rarely slips...

Some sort of sticky tires are a must. Nitto or BFG Drag Ragials or ET Streets. In an A-4 the best way to lower the 60 foot time (once you have the sticky tires) is with a stall converter. My A-4 went a 1.83 60 foot with a 2,400 stall converter. I have just upgraded to a 3,500 stall and am hoping for low 1.7 to high 1.6 60 foot times. The new converter is alot looser than the old one.

Like the other guys said, tires are far and away the most effective means to improve your 60' times.

Here is a new twist.... He has a 3.8.. He can't muster better than a 2.401 60'.... Still say tires? Now our buddy with a 3.4 runs consistent 2.1 60's times...

Try swapping drivers and see if it really the car that is bad in the 60'...

Not to flame, but a 16 second car shouldn't have any trouble hooking up. If the tires are not slipping then it would need to be a p[erformance issue. Perhaps there is a difference in the gearing between the two cars?
