Question 29.5x10.5 ET Drags

What all needs to be done to fit 29.5x10.5 et drags under the rear of my 94 Z28?? I know a pie cut is needed on the rear bumper cover and some hammering on the inside of the wheel wells, also the lip needs to be rolled or trimmed. Am I missing anything??

thanks,
Scott

Not a great picture, but this is a 29.5" ET Drag on an SS:

30th SS Convert

There is significant surgery to the wheel opening on both the front edge sheet metal, and rear edge bumper cover. Took a trip to the body shop.

Another pic, with a Bogart wheel......

Pic #2

Not my car... a friend's.

Yeah, I'm going to have to do some hammering with my 28x11.5 ET Streets, hopefully not sawing like Fred's pics.

The "28x11.5" ET Street isn't all that bad, because its only 27.6" diameter. Growth will increase the diameter, but you might get away without doing anything.

It didn't really take to much to cut out to make them fit. LOL! See the pic below;

I thought that would be funny to show that pic of not that much metal removed. LOL!

The rims are a Weld Aluma Star 2.0 15x12" with a 3" back space. The tires are MT ET Street 31x16.5x15".

I have some updated photos that I need to get posted on my body's site because these photo's really don't do the car any justice not to mention these where photo's when the car was first started and so much more has been done since those pics where taken.

Good luck with fitting your tires.

It's funny you ask because someone else just asked that same question.LOL

I'm going to run a: ARE LT1 nitrous combination. I asked Wade to try and make as much power as possible from a LT1. Wade knows the intentions I have and say's where not going to have any problems with it and the amount of nitrous its going to see. We are going to spray the motor with 400 to 600hp worth of nitrous or what ever the motor will use.

The motor has compression over 13.5 to 1,displacement is larger than a 396ci,ARE heads,Jessel valve train, solid roller cam .700 something lift and direct port nitrous from Jeff Prock at Applied Nitrous. I run a Rossler level 4 turbo 400 with transbreak and Neil Chance converter.

This isn't really your normal daily family truckster but it will see street time. Like I said to another person whom asked about the motor the funny thing about this deal and how I came to running the LT1 was really because of a bet or more so of a challenge/bet. You really would have to hear the whole story to better understand.

The car was built to run some NSCA events in super street class and see a little weekend street action. I had no intentions to run the LT1 but only for this summer because the motor that I intend to run is a used 2 year old Duttweiler 447ci twin turbo motor that was just freshened, I picked up the motor for a great deal that couldn't be passed. I wanted to get the car out this summer with the LT1 and have some fun before the car has to go back to the chassis shop this winter for the front half of the car to be cut off and tubed, struted and the new motor fitted in. after the cars done I probably will only run locale Big Dog shootouts because with the new motor and the cars config, rule changes and what not the car probably will have to run in Outlaw or Pro Street and those classes are for the guy's with deeper pockets than I have.

I really need to get my new photos up because the photos you seen of the chassis are nothing like what it is now. Those pics where taken when my chassis guy just started the car. The car is tube from firewall back and certifies 25.1D with a pro tag for 7.50 or faster.

The bad part about this is I probably will only run the motor for a month to lay down some ET's and then it comes out and up for sale.

See Ya,

I'll work at getting my buddy to host the updated pics on his site. I have only asked him half dozen times, he's such a loozer.

Here are a couple older shots to show what ride height is at without motor in, car should be a little lower then this after everything is in car and the car has been scaled. Plus a pic of the lightest drag frt wheel I have ever felt, the only other wheel close to the weight would have to be a spindle mount wheel.
