WOT Ignition Timing
WOT Ignition Timing
For those who do their own tuning, how much total timing do you run at WOT (95-100 kPa)? I have a totally stock engine with Pacesetter LTs and a CAI. I know the stock tables have 38 deg at WOT, I have been running 35. Any input is appreciated.
Do you have a boost retard box on there? If not, then thats ALOT of timing, especially if the 34* is whats showing in your table. Thats even higher actual timing since the stock PCM adds a bit.

at 35 you are safe but probably not optimal. Only real way to know is to dyno test. That is how I set my timing for the 383 in my Hawk. You can't use that as a reference because that is a totally different engine but I was running 35 degrees up top at WOT.
Thanks for all of the replies. My stock tables definitely have 38 deg at 95-100 kPa. I figured I was leaving a little power on the table at 35. Now I will add slowly and see what happens.
Yes, I still got em. Sorry, I don't like to dial back on timing. I've tried it, and, I cannot take the large loss in performance. I do have quality rotating assembly with JE -28cc blower pistons. It is running very good now. I have very good air flow thru the manifold/ heads and have done alot of work on the exhaust side and blower intake. All wheel spin in 1 thru 3, and, off the apex. I have converted to Evans waterless cooling media, and, this helps stop detonation. B.
