Is It Worth It To Get The Setup for Data Logging?
Hi all,
I am a DIY type of guy who maintains my camaros. Recently I have become interested buying the ALDU1 and CABL1 XtremeALDL and NewCABL1 Combo here on moates and hooking up my car to my laptop. The reason I wanted to do this was so I could start to diagnose why my car recently failed inspection on my 92z28 (Bit higher CO emissions then is allowed). I guess my question is how difficult is it to read the software out there for someone who is normal and has only basic mechanical knowledge?
I have read about Datamaster (Which I think is over priced) and TunerPro RT. This is me thinking but the value in having software I would assume is that I can open a stock file that has all my cars specs and then look at the current specs the car is showing and essentially compare. Is this the right train of thought? I guess its just difficult since I am not seeing any tutorials on doing that task.
Any thoughts or input would greatly be appreciated.

What you will be able to read are the operating parameters set on the chip. With the right software you can change these to your liking and load them to your car.
At a minimum , a cable, laptop and freesoftware will let you see what your engine is actually doing in real time.Great tuning aid

I bought a cable and am using the free DataMaster and it's great. After I bought a tune from Madwolf i sent him a log of what my car was doing because i found a lot of Knock!! After looking for where it could be comming from(header leak and other things) I got some GOOD Octaine boost and the Knock went away. Injuneer has a great site for telling you what all the paramaters should be and what they mean. http://members.aol.com/InjuneerZz/ScanMast.htm
Good Luck!

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. Quick question with the cable and software I will be able to read the parameters which makes sense. But I will not be able to change those parameters on the fly will I? Not that I would want to just curious.
Also has anyone come across any good beginner tutorials for using tunerpro? I went through the help file and have a little more understanding of binary but still seems foggy in terms of getting it up and running.
FYI that website is back up. Its aol hosting so its somewhat flaky.
