Wiring gurus: tan wire abs & ?tcc?
Wiring gurus: tan wire abs & ?tcc?
I've got the abs inop light and the asr (trac control) is also disabled. I know the two systems are linked but I'm not sure how. I had a shop scan the thing for me and I was told that I had a ground issue on the left front and probably a wheel speed sensor on the right front. I'll save the wheel speed sensor for later.. for now I need help with this wiring issue.
First let me say that I lengthened and rerouted the driverside wheel speed/abs sensor wires after thel longtubes burned them.. I've checked the connections and they are good and are not crossed. I then went to checking the connections on the abs unit. On my 96 there are three plugs on the top of the thing. On the plug closest to the engine (toward the pass. side) I noticed that there is continuity between the tan wire and the black (ground) wire running into this plug. I'm assuming this is my problem. I checked around and as far as I can tell the brown wire seems to run down to the little box thing right below my stock air cleaner (visible by removing driver's side splash panel). First of all, what the heck is this box? Trac. control? Second, should the brown/tan wire be grounded? Third, can I just cut the wire and reroute it up to the abs unit? Does it run anywhere else?
If anyone can offer some advice I'd really appreciate it.. I'm hesitant to go cutting and rerouting the wire without knowing exactly what it is.. I'd really like to not have to take it to the stealership... if I can install hooker LTs you'd think I could fix a simple wiring problem wouldn't you

Re: Wiring gurus: tan wire abs & ?tcc?
Well.. after further investigation the grounded abs wire (tan with white stripe) is not the same as the one running into the box under the air intake. The wire running into the box isn't grounded while the one running to the abs is. If anyone's curious the box is some sort of hydrolic device that releases excess pressure in the braking system.
So, anyone have any clue where this tan wire goes?

I hope ya'll don't get too offended but I'm gonna try this over in the brakes forum.. might be a better place for it. FYI, I found a picture of the wire on shoebox's site

It's the sensor that plugs in vertically in the upper righthand corner of the pic. The tan/white wire is grounded.. that is, I think, the problem. If anyone has any wiring diagrams that show where this wire goes please please let me know. Thanks.
