Unhappy Windows 2000 and no DOS? Tunercat related

I've been using my laptop from work to program my car when needed. Its been a couple of years, and I realized I need to make a change in my car. So, in learning this stuff all over again, I remembered I need to use Tunercat in DOS mode to be safe. Well, kinda hard to do with Windows 2000's lack of ability to boot up in DOS. At least I'm told it won't.
Anyways, the windows flash utility from Tunercat, is it safe to use? I would of course shut down every single thing in windows that I could before using this.

There is another way to do it. Create a DOS boot disk. That way you can program in DOS without needing a second operating system. You can get one at www.akmcables.com (I beleive he still has it on his website).
