wideband o2 question

i am looking at the fast dual sensor setup that comes with the handheld unit that does log and can be uploaded to a laptop. it costs 430.
on the other hand i see alot of guys are running the lc1. if you get the kit it comes up to 230. with one sensor and a gauge. it also logs but you cant see it in real time. after your run you upload it. i know you can hook it up to a laptop but i need my only serial connection to watch free scan/datamaster info. is it over kill to run 2 widebands? of course one in each bank for those wondering. just looking for input on the ups and downs on both sides from people using them. thanks for any infomation you guys can offer.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish and how radical your setup is. I would recommend the lc1 and log it through the AC pressure switch. I picked up my lc1 for $159.00 shipped about a year ago. It works great and the price can't be beat.

Unless you are doing some serious tuning (for lots of cars, not just yours) $500 is way overkill.

I will never buy another innovate product - see my post in the FI section. I'm currently using a JAW (just another wideband) and a bosch sensor. Comes out to about $120 but some assymbly required.

I have had great luck with the aem units and have had two of them in my car for the last year or so driving it every day.

Be slightly warned though the 5v analog out on the aem is not going to be exactly perfect and you will have to play with the numbers in datamaster to get it working 100%

being that i have not had the need to work with a wideband yet, how are you getting the signal into datamaster? i called them to ask if it could read the o2 but after being on hold for 20mins i gave up. also what model of aem did you go with, i noticed that they have a few different ones.

I went with the digital one with all the different faces and bezels since the analogs weren't out yet. You can do a search here for how to get it into datamaster. The short version is you can use a red wire with a black stripe from the ac pressure sensor and set up a custom data type in datamaster. If you want more info than that do a search here there is a thread with it all in it. Due to the analog output voltage of the aem being slightly off you will have to mess with the formula a little bit. Obviously when you adjust the formula you will want it to be most accurate in the 12-13 a/f range.

Any time I have had them on the dyno they match with the dyno wideband if the sniffer they put in is built properly.
