Why does Datamaster NOT work, but Freescan DOES??

Why does Datamaster NOT work, but Freescan DOES??
Well I finally got my laptop to accept my usb adapter and got it to work on freescan with no luck of Datamaster, I am just wondering why this will work with frescan, but not Datamaster, com ports were correct and eveything...
