Where can I get the computer reprogram

Does anyone know where can I reprogram the computer. I need somebody good but not to expensive to program the computer. It's a OBD II from 97 SS. I have a few stuff done to the engine. Like the cam, heads, injectors, and bolts on. I live at Florida. I try looking somebody local. But if I can't find somebody local, that's would be fine too.

Hey Richie, I live on the gulf coast down near Fort Myers and I was sent to Basler Performance & Engineering up near Tampa by the builder of my engine at my local performance shop. His number is (941)955-4306 but I would think you could find someone in Orlando or even closer to you. As far as how good he was it is hard to say as there ended up being MANY mechanical problems that surfaced very shortly after the tune even though it was a fresh build. It ran very poorly before the tune during the break in period but I was repeatedly assured by the builder it was only because of the lack of tuning and the extensive mods made. I know the guy that tuned it was suspicious of this as he had a hard time getting a good tune and when I started having problems on the ride home he offered to re-tune for free but wanted the mechanical condition checked first. After having it back to the guy that put the engine back together and back in the car several times, I had to tear it down to the block myself and found more things wrong than you can imagine. To include a shattered exhaust valve spring on the #8 (dead cylinder which is what prompted me to start tearing it down myself to begin with), a badly damaged plug wire (brand new 8.5 MSDF wire set) on the #5, incorrectly adjusted rockers (I found three so loose they had damaged the rollers from hitting the valve stems and damaged pushrod cups and pushrod, and several way over tightened more than 3 full turns to take the tension off when on the lowest part of the cam which I am sure is what shattered the spring) and a shredded distributor cap and rotor from the cap being put on without the gasket (Brand new MSD Billet opti) as well as several other things. So much for a Custom performance shop that specializes in Corvettes and GM high performance. I won't mention Mike's shop in this post for fear of legal reasons, but at least Basler Performance is offering free re-tune when I get all problems fixed. Sorry for the whole story but I wanted to make clear I don't think the problems were caused by Basler Performance & Engineering in case anyone else reading this that is closer to him might consider using him.

Did he do the dyno tuning or he just reprogram the computer for you? Would you mine if I ask you how much does he charge for the tuning? thanks

Hey sorry for the delay in response. He did a true dyno and tune not just tune it and send me on my way. He gave me a print out of the beginning dyno and final tune dyno but I seem to have misplaced them .
I was charged $750.00 but $250.00 of that was for a new programmable chip in my pcm since my car is a 1993 and apparently not programmable with the stock chip. The actual dyno and tune was $500.00.
From what I have seen for mail order tunes $500.00 is expensive but it is a dyno and custom tune so I guess it boils down to what you want. I am happy to help with the info but I would really think as big as Orlando is you could find someone there and they may be cheaper to boot.
Good luck in what ever you decide to do.

$250 for the chip? You can get blank eproms for a couple of bucks and an memcal adapter board from Moates for $35.

I'm thinking to do the dyno tune. BUt I don't really want to spend that kind of money if I have to do it again in the future. Because I'm getting 396 on a few years. I'm basically just want the car to run fine, and not rough. WHat do you guys think about Doc from EFI Alchemy? My buddy knows him. And a couple people recommend him.

2xLS1, that is true if it is compatible with your system like the 94 and up OBD1 or the OBD2. Or the earlier, 92 and earlier TBI but the 1993 LT1 is different. If you look at Moates' site you will see that the ALDU1 and CABL1 XtremeALDL and NewCABL1 Combo they offer for GM pre 1996 OBD1 does not work at all for 95 LT1 and also does not say it will work for 1993 LT1. They list only back to the 1994 LT1 "Everything except the 1995 LT1" "and reflash the 94 LT1 as well" and that is still $80.00. The $30.00 "2Timer" replacement chip does not work for 93 LT1. The only thing that does work with 93 LT1 is the "G3 Bank Switching Adapter" which is $55.00 but if you read the details on that the pcm must already be converted to be re-programmable. It is my understanding that the conversion to be re-programmable is what I was charged $250.00 for but I am looking into it.

I have called several different companies about their tuners they all say it will not work with 93 only 94 and up. I did write to Moates to find out about what they have that will work with 93 LT1 stock as well as what they have that can work with my now modified pcm. Hopefully they will have good news for me when they write back.

Thanks for the tip and leading me to the Moates site, they may have just what I have been looking for now that my pcm is programmable.

Oh and I forgot to say I tried to look at your ride with the link that is in your signature or tag and it says not available so either the site that hostes it is down or somehow you got a broken link.
I was looking forward to seeing your car. If you get the link fixed or have another link or the site comes back up please let me know I love looking through all the photos of the cool cars.
