What would happen to my o2 if i left it out of the bung?

i have a 96 z28 with an OBDI computer.

I need an o2 extension because my drivers side o2 wont reach the bung on the long tube header.

I also want to get my y pipe put on tomorrow. No place in town carries o2 extensions so if i were to get my ypipe put on I'd have to leave the o2 sensor hanging.. Actually i'd have to leave the y pipe ones hanging to until i reach the shop..

Should be fine as long as i tie them up out of the way for now and drive it to the shop and back right?
