V6 PCM Problem?
V6 PCM Problem?
My 1997 OBD2 V6 Firebird has some problems-
The speedo stopped working, then the fans stopped working, then the SES light came on for a while and now it is out. When I plug in a scanner to the OBD2 service port, I get no reading or power. I checked all fuses & they are OK.
The car starts & runs fine, but is overheating at idle due to the fans.
Could the PCM be going bad?

1 down & 1 to go!
As it turns out, the cigar/acc fuse on the 1997 model apparently also powers the OBD2 diagnostics. This fuse was blown, I replaced it & now the fans & scanner work but no speedo/odometer.
Time to test the vehicle speed sensor from the look of things.

Problem #2 solved. It turns out some <Red Forman> dumb***</Red Forman> had cut off the plug to the speed sensor and soldered the wires to the pins
. Fortunately, I had an old LT1 harness & cut off the speed sensor plug and wired it up like it should be.
