Tuning after a gear change

If I change from a 273 to a 342 in a 98 Z28, what's involved in "tuning"? Also who does it, do I have to take it to a dealership. I have an automatic trans. in NC.
Thanks, this stuff blows me away. Give me my 68 back.

A dealership could make the change _if_ a car came from the factory with that same combination. And they'd probably charge you an arm and a leg to do it.

What you need to do is get a mail order tune.

+1 .. You will need a tune to keep your speedometer, shift points, Torque Converter lockup working correctly with the new gearing. You will also get some performance improvements, some extra HP, and can lower the fan turn-on as a byproduct of purchasing a tune. Contact Vince at http://www.trifectaperformance.com/default.aspx Trifecta is a sponsor here, from looking at the website it looks like about $200 for a basic 1998..

I would prefer to have someone do it for me. If anyone in NC has a tuner, let me know. If not, I will take your advise,Bob.
