tunercats no longer available....

with tuner cats no longer available which tuning software would you suggest? i have a 97 lt1 with OBD2.

i have a computer, i can get the wideband sensors....i just need the dang'd software. i wanted tuner cats but....they sold out to jet performance chips.

i'd like to be able to use this software on multiple vehicles so lt1 edit is out. i dont know of any others out there that can do what i want.

so....what do i want?

Re: tunercats no longer available....

i thought about it but i'd really rather not have to do that. if i have to i will though. if i have no other options on my obd2 computer i'll have to use my software to convert it over....if possible....i really dont want to spend 200 on a new ecm and then buy software to enhance it.

Its sort of funny.... everyone complained about carputing charging $450 for the single license OBD-II version, and $100 for each additional VIN. Along comes JET and ups the TunerCat ante to $500 + $150 per VIN.

Re: tunercats no longer available....

i really....REALLY dont want to pay that much for a tuning program..but if it's more beneficial for me to convert over to the obd1 and buy tuner cats i guess i'll have to do that.

will i need the obd1 cable or the obd2 cable if i switch over to the obd1 in a 97 car?

I agree, do they think people will buy into that?

Re: tunercats no longer available....

i'd pay 200...that's what it's going to cost me to convert to obd1 and then i'll still have to buy programs...

i have this damn laptop and cables and now i have no program to tune with...my injectors will be here within the week and i need to tune for them

could i convert over to obd1 myself or could i just install a 94-5 ecm in my car after i tune it??? what problems would i be running into if i start from scratch in my 97 with a 94's ECM and then tune to my likings?

You mean Tunercat OBD2 was a single VIN deal also??

I admire Tunercat for writing this software and just assumed since their OBD1 version didn't have that restriction neither did their OBD2 version.

The whole additional vin = additional $$$ is just wrong, I don't admire them that much. Not EVERYBODY is going to make a business out this. I was going to get the Tunercat OBD2 but my car was down just about the whole time they FINALLY had it on the market. Before this I already paid the money to convert to OBD1 and bought Tunercat for it and I have never tried to make a dime off it.

I just dont like buying stuff with restricted use like that. It ranks right up there with hypercrap.

When you buy a wrench does anybody tell you that you can only use it on YOUR car?

TC OBD2 was not vin locked. It only became vin locked when Jet bought it.

Well that's what I thought initially, that also tells you something about JET and what I think about them.

Wow, I had no idea. I bought OBD2 TC directly from TC as soon as it became available for my LT1. According to the Monodax page us existing users will still have support directly from TC.

And you can still buy unlimited vin def files for it from TC also.

Hey Fred, thanks for posting. Now I have a question, what is the reason Jet puts a 2 VIN limit on this software?
