roguedriver - where'd you get your PCM repaired? I need to send mine away and/or find a temp replacement.

That is exactly how it works, it says OK dump your data I'm overwriting you. Basically, you trigger a certain address to begin the overwrite. However, if there is nothing there in the first place the PCM does not "boot up", and thusly you cannot COM with it.

That bootup thing makes sense to me now... I get that part... but if the second FLASH chip gets fried, and the first one is successfully programmed, then can the laptop communicate with the PCM? Will the car still run under these conditions, if only the second chip was fried?

Dave....

Dave, got my PCM repaired at AKMcables, the same place you get your cable from to do your programming. There are other places out there that can do it also. Check the links on AKMcables page, TunerCat, ect and you'll eventually find them.

Roguedriver, when he repaired your PCM, did he socket it? I'm under the impression he has to remove the chip from the board anyway, so why resolder it back in? Might as well socket it, no?
