tunercat EE vs. EEB

I think one is for 94 and earlier and one is for 95. Which one is which? What would happen if I use the wrong one?

Re: tunercat EE vs. EEB

There are two versions of the $EE Definition File. The standard version (PCM_EE) is the one you will usually use. There is, however, an early version of the $EE calibration that GM used in early 1994 normally referred to as Rev B that is slightly different than the standard version. If you need to work with a Rev B calibration file, you'll need to use the second $EE Definition File (PCM_EEB). If your tuning your 95' use the PCM_EE.

Yeah, there is so weird differences between the two. You gotta be careful when editing a .bin file.

I opened a .bin file one time in EEB and it said I had a displacement of 27mL per cylinder and 800# Injectors!!!!!

I still haven't distiguished anyway to tell what Def to use...

Re: tunercat EE vs. EEB

If your calibration in the PCM is up to date (latest from GM) then nobody would have to use EEB. If you have to use it, you have an old(er) calibration.

Re: tunercat EE vs. EEB

Yes, you can upgrade it. In fact for a 94-97, you don't have to go to the dealership to do it, as long as you use the right file.

For a 94 A4, there were several different calibrations. Here is a list of what has been changed/updated/fixed in each one of them:

CORRECTS DRIVE CLUNK RELATED TO THE 3--2 TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT.

RUNNING CHANGE TO TURN ON A.I.R. PUMP DURING CRANK

RUNNING CHANGE TO FIX WEAK START/DRIVE-AWAY PROBLEM.

RUNNING CHANGE TO CORRECT ABNORMAL SOFTWARE OPERATION IN SERIAL DATA / EEPROM PROGRAMMING AREA.

CONTROL MODULE CALIBRATION

So 5 different calibrations total where the last one was the first one released. You have the first one or one of the first ones.

They issued the other calibrations as a response to some bulletins (problems that were reported on a vast number of cars of that year/tranny type) so I guess if you had one of those problems, the newer calibration would fix it.

If you email me your VIN number, I can send you the latest calibration for your car.
