TunerCat is better but harder than LT1_Edit

Datamaster is a requirement.

It's as easy as comparing a stock tune in datamaster and Tunercat/LT1_Edit, mainly MAP based Timing and if your not using a MAF, then the VE Tables.

Example, a bigger cam creates higher MAP values, so you need to compare idle timing with stock cam to idle with new cam and move timing to new cam MAP tables accordingly, increase idle timing until it idles best. Fuel with a MAF should adjust, use VEMaster to tune VE tables.

Everything else is covered it hundreds of posts.

Start by googling "LT1 PCM tuning" "GM PCM tuning" and variants on that theme.

There are a number of web pages out there to get you started.

BMD18, You're looking at a long term but not impossible task. I started self tuning about 1 1/2 years ago and I'm still learning. It will take a LOT or searching, reading and trial and error. I started with real basics, speedometer, fans, shift points (4L60E) and timing on a relatively stock set up as you have. Knowing my knowledge limits I purchased a mail order tune after I installed my cam. But I kept on progressing, downloaded some tunes through the forums and other members, used the good pieces, and moved on to more customized tuning for my expectations and driving needs. Since I started with TunerCat 'Tuner' and TTS 'DataMaster' I can't compare them to any other S/W, but they have provide me the ability to do anything I need to do with my setup. I would recommend them.
