Question Tuner Cat Programing

OK im confused. I want to reprogram my 94 TA with Tuner Cat. I got Datamaster to view PCM activity. I have ordered a cable from AKM and have downloaded Tuner Cat. Whats confusing me or maybe I am misunderstanding this..."redirect" this is my thinking.

1. Hookup laptop to car with AKM cable run tuner cat copy pcm data.

2. Run datamaster see what car is doing plan changes.

3. Copy/rename original PCM file put in safe place.

4. Run Tuner Cat make changes to original file as needed.. save.

5. Download modified file into PCM through AKM cable using Tuner Cat

6. start car have fun..

This is how I understand the process, I figured it works like a hypertech programer sort of... what confuses me is I read about everyone desoldering chips, benchtop programers, etc.. please tell me this is not necessary..

Thanks

Sounds like you got it under control!

The only thing you may have missed is that you need a $EE ECM definition file to make TunerCAT work with the LT1 computer.

Sorry about leaving that out, is what I am reading about concern early OBD 1 with removable chips? Dont mean to seem so ignorant. I try to plan for every concievable failure/wtf so that I can better handle the ones that are bound to happen.

Don't be concerned with it. No-one has to remove '94-'95 chips. They may be talking about '93's.
