Angry Those with Tunercat...

I figured I'd go with Tunercat since its cheaper than LT1_Edit. So I download the free 30 day trial, and waited until I got my cable, today, to install it... so I wouldn't waste any of my free days.

So I install it. I use some other program to read my PCM. Then I had to use another program to convert my PCM file from .lt1 to .bin

Anyways, after all of this, you need some special $EE file to get it to work. I can't preview a damn thing! This does not make me want their software!

Am I missing something? Probably not...

You have to order the 94/95 LT1 specific $EE file for $20, and only if you've already registered with them for $70. To make things worse, these guys are in the stone age and you have to mail them the money... they'll probably mail me back a 5" floppy with the file on it.

Obviously I haven't paid a dime, but I'm not getting a preview of their program... I think thats dumb, so I might just get LT1 Edit.

If anyone has a $EE file, that could help me test it out though. Anyone have this thing?

You don't have to mail them your money... you can use Paypal... Or at least I did 6 or 7 months ago... I don't know if they still use it or not.

But ahhh, no, I won't be sending you my def. file... Sorry man, just cough up the dough and buy it! Its well worth it! And you should have gotten some sort of views on the program from this forum.

I haven't used LT1 edit, or seen it used, I havn't even seen anyone else in my area use Tunercat (some guys have it, but I don't really hang out with 'em) but I love my copy. I honestly do very little with it, but for the cost (which isn't really all that much) I love being able to program my car.

I agree with the above post. You cant preview it with the LT1, but it is available to preview on a chevy truck I think. This program is well worth it. THis past weekend a friend on mine and I met up to do a little tuning. He even stated that he liked it better then LT1 edit, and that is what he uses Dont whine about not getting a free tune. Where else are you gonna get a non vin locked program that lets you do whatever you want with your ecm? YOU ARENT. Trust, excellent program, worth your hard earned cash.

I never saw that they accepted PayPal. I went ahead and ordered Tunercat and the $EE file... but why do they even bother telling people to download a free 30 day trial? You can't do a thing with it.

It gives you a chance to play the the real program and see how it works. You can still program chevy truck I think more then anything it is to give you the layout of the software. I did the same thing you did, but after 1 hour with the software I realized it was a breeze to use, so I just bought the whole thing.

I haven't been able to edit anything?! It would be cool if I could mess with settings for a 1979 Chevy van, just to see how it works... can I do that? Sounds like you guys did. I haven't been able to open any files. I must be doing something wrong...

With all these tunercat users, somebody want to give a few good hints on how to use it?

stevil - go look around the WWW for a .bin or .lt1 file for a 87 - 91 C/K Truck, Van, 4.3L, 5.7L & 7.4L and you can play with all the settings. It'll be a free download just like the lt1/bin files you see around here. I did just this, so I know it can be done. Enjoy!

You can find multiple .bins for any ecm you want at www.diy-efi.org
go to the gm ecm portion of the site and look at the ftp bin library
