Scanner cable... will it work??

Ok here is my situation... I have a 95 Formula purchased off the boards a few months back. Mods ... Previous owners page. So I picked up the car the transmission was shot, but it just so happend I had a complete t56 swap from my previous 93 TA. So now after my 13 hour job it's a 6 speed and workin great.... only it is running super RICHH... It has a previous tune from PCMforless i believe.Never the less I need to flash/tune it for the m6 now.

So what I'm really wondering about.... I have tunercat... the .ee def ... and some m6 .bin's all I am really lacking is the ALDL cable... now I know akmcabels 90 bucks yeayea... but I happen to work in a transmission shop and we have a few scan tools... the matco determinator (otc like genesys) has regular serial cable wire d25 connector i believe... now i can buy a d25(serial)(lpt1) to d9 (comm port) ,which tunercat and datamaster use, at radio shack and with the right GM chip insert in the scanner cable does anyone else think it would work and communicate with my computer...?

Sory long post.. I'll probably just try it 2morrow anyway and post my findings but I fiugred maybe I'd get some input.
