T-56 swap tuning

I tried searching and wasnt successful on answering all my questions.

I have a 95 Z28 with a 4L60E...my left foot is getting bored. I am looking at swapping a T-56 in. The swap over all is easy for me. The only problem is the computer.

My current car has no rev limiters or speed limiters. I bought the car this way and do not know if anything else was changed in the settings other than this. Is it possible to tune the computer so the 4L60E settings are removed and it just runs with T-56 settings?

Or would I have to buy a Manual transmission computer and find someone who could read my current computer and transfer those settings to the manual computer?

Thanks for the help...

It can be tuned fairly easily on a 95. You'll either need to send the PCM away to a few a the tuners here, or get a cable for a laptop and LT1 edit to do it yourself. I believe that a dealership would be able to do it as well, but that would be an absolute last resort.

If you access to tunercat or lt1 edit, I 'll hook you up with a stock m6 program.

Re: T-56 swap tuning

You do not need an M6 computer.... the computer itself is not different, only the wiring harness. The TUNE is different. In Tunercats, I was not able to change "something" that was causing me to pull 10 degrees on timing every time I shifted. Changing to a base M6 tune and putting all of my changes in corrected the problem. I still recommend Tunercats and a cable for the price, and freescan for monitoring and code reading (FREE!) as well as ease of use (I have no idea who made Freescan but THANK YOU THANK YOU). I went over a year without a tune in my car after my swap... so it isn't even absolutely necessary. But fixing the speedo, and other minor things is annoying.

Do not go to a dealer... usually they have no idea what they are doing. (Sadly) And if/when they do, they charge WAY too much.

Are you serious?

Or are you talking about checking your codes?

They don't have the equipment to flash computers. Atleast not any that I've ever been to.
