still getting a code

Hey, I just changed my opti yesterday, because I was getting a hi-res code. well It's still doing the same thing. Just not nearly as bad. every once in a while (as opposed to all the time) it chokes on acceleration, backfires and throws a code. I assume it's the same one, but this time it only lasts a few minutes. Any ideas?
what else could make it throw a hi-res code?

Did you carefully clean the harness connectors... both the connector at the Opti, and the gray "test connector" on bracket in the middle of the passenger side of the intake manifold? Ususally a good idea to try that before you replace the Opti. Have you checked for any high voltage ignition wires in close proximity to the Opti harness wires?

I see you are digging up every code 36 post. This one is ~4 years old.

well - i need help, man...
and aint I supposed to use "search" function before asking?

i really dont want to change the damn opti again... if i do, i'm getting a GM original!

but could this be my PCM itself??? some codes and data errors just dont make sense... but code 36 and dying only happens when the car is hot, still runs fine when cold... oh, and the car has been missfiring since day one with new opti, timing set, all gaskets, etc...

I don't think Shoebox was faulting you for using the "search" feature. He was just pointing out that this is a very old thread. I check the user info for "Eff", and he hasn't signed on to the site since May of 2006. Not likely you will get a response.
