SES after catback install

I wish I could tell you what kind of code it is throwing since their is about 4" of snow on the ground and I can only just get the darn car out of the garage, so I can't get it to Auto Zone.... Anyway down to the question about a month ago I installed a Borla C/B w/ wide open plate in it. I drove the car up until a week and half ago when we finally started getting snow. The very last day I drove it the SES light came on and I was wondering if it might have something to with the C/B. Cause I got my LT's in today and I want to install them but if it's like an O2 senser gone bad I'd like to replace them while I already have the car in the air, but if it's something that might be happening do to the C/B, I won't even worry about getting it to AZ. Any thoughts??

Sorry if in wrong section....

Don't think it has anything to do with the catback, and I've run my cutout uncapped/capped over the years with no codes. Thinking it's something else. You need the code to tell you what's going on.

No, I don't have to worry about emissions. I forgot to mention that I also got the TSP ORY so I was planning on getting rid of the EGR.

I gonna have to find a way to out of my garage and get it over to AZ and get it scanned... Thanks for the input guys.

If you don't know anyone with a scanner/can't get to AZ harbor freight sells a cheap ODBII reader.

Well I took 2001NBMZ28's advice and went to Harbor Freight and bought their more expencive scanner. I put it on and it come up with a Generic code #P0430 Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold..... I take it this means that either my cat's are junk or that they aren't working like they should.

Bad cat,an o2 sensor or an exhaust leak will cause these codes.

Swap the two after-cat O2 sensors side-to-side. If the code follows the sensor, its a bad O2 sensor. If the code stays on Bank 2, its a cat problem or a wiring problem.

Oh crap, I forgot to add that their were to codes thrown both for the same thing (bank 2). So switching the O2's aren't gonna make a difference if there is 2 codes both for bank 2. Then it according to "Injuneer" the cat's are basically crap. If that's the case, good thing I'm changing out the Y.

Ya know, come to think of it I have been noticing a funky smell from the exhaust after I shut the car off. It kind of smells like really hot brake pads during brake in period or a hot clutch.

Very confusing post.

Your car has 4 O2 sensors. Two pre-cat sensors, one for Bank 1 (drivers side of engine) and one for Bank 2 (passenger side of the engine). Two after-cat sensors, also one for Bank 1 and one for Bank 2. If you have codes for two O2 sensors on Bank 2, it would indicate you could swap them left to right (not front to back - different connectors) to check them.

If you have two codes, what it the other one, besides P0430? It would have mad a lot more sense to post both codes rather than only one.

I'm sorry if I'm confusing you.

When I search for trubble codes it comes up with this......
Codes total: 02
Fault Codes: 01
Pend Codes: 01
When I pres "Yes" to view the truble codes. It comes up with this...

01/02
P0430 Generic
Catalyst Efficiency
below Threshold
(Bank 2)

Now when I click to view the other code it says the same thing except for it's now reading 02/02 in the uper right hand corner.

Hope this exlpains it a little better.
