Scanning, ALDL, and more, oh me oh my!

I got a free scanning tool, actually thats the name, FreeScan off some site, and it said you need an interface to hook up to the ALDL, well i'm assuming that's the plug you put OBD readers in right? Then also, i thought it said something about pulling the ECU fuse. doesn't sound right.... Also my car is a 94, so it's the year they switched from OBD I to II. Well we tried an OBD I code reader but it doesn't work, and it doesn't have an OBD II port. So i was hoping this scan tool would work. Does anyone have any idea how to use it or what plugs to put it in? i need help badly....

Your car is OBDI. OBDII began in '96. You'll need the correct cable to hook it up. Don't know where to get the cable. I've not heard of pulling the fuse to use a scan tool.

I got this thing where you can read and change almost anything you want. I just want to know how to hook it up. I think it goes from a USB port on the laptop to the ECU/PCM, but where?

I've never seen a scanner or a programmer that didn't connect to the ALDL port.

Look under the dash for the ALDL connection port.

Pretty much all 94's I've come across have been OBDI with an OBDI type ALDL connection. If I remember correctly it was the 95's that started doing the OBDI with the OBDII type connectors.

At any rate the connection is under the dash towards the right-hand side..

you can check AKM cables for the assembled ALDL cable or the kit.
