scan tool(obd2)

i need something to check codes, and i need to be able to see what the sensors are doing, i was looking at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...543128277&rd=1, would something like that be a good investment? any other suggestions. thanx

looks like it only supports J1979 not J2190 so its only going to support the basic parameters nothing enhanced

I just bought Proscan and a few other monitoring programs.
It's a good deal with the elmscan interface which works with other programs including the free scantool which is mentioned in this slightly older thread.
By itself the interface is 90.00.

If all you want to do is read and clear codes very quickly, Autozone sells a simple scanner that reads and clears all brands of obd2 cars for 90.00.
Otherwise you need at least a desktop with 98 and a comm port to use any of these programs.
