Scan Master
Scan Master
Are scanmasters really worth it. They look pretty cool. I was reading up on it and it seemend to do a lot. Are you guys who have them happy with them. I also love how you can install them in the ac vent. Also do they tell you your airfuel ratio. And what else have you all found to be useful about them.
thanks in advance

Great device for real time monitoring.... limited value in diagnosing problems that require extended periods of data logging. My recommendation is to get both the ScanMaster for the real time display capability, and TTS DataMaster for data logging when needed.
The ScanMaster can not tell you the actual A/F ratio... in fact, no scanner can do that. You would need a wide-band sensor in the exhaust, with its own electronics to read actual A/F ratio. It will give you O2 sensor millivolt output, which can be used to VERY ROUGHLY estimate A/F ratio, but the stock narrow-band sensors are totally inadequate/innacurate at the rich ratios you need for max torque and max HP.
A data logging scanner will generally allow you to access the PCM's "target" A/F ratio... the one it calculates and bases its fuel calculations on, based on rpm and coolant temp in power enrichment (~WOT) mode.
Have you read this:
SCANMASTER "MANUAL".... at least my version of it
