Ryan94ZA4 - OBDI Stall solution question
I noticed that you have offered a solution to various people regarding shift problems with aftermarket stall converters.
Reprogramming shift points do nothing for me as I cannot do a WOT 2-3 shift.
Do you have a suggestion, .bin file or something?
I tried to email you, but it bounced.
THanks,
Chris

Well...reprogramming the WOT shift points has everything to do with it.
What I have seen is that you want to set the 100% TPS shift to 1 mph...but there is some other fooling around that supposedly has to be done too. I think some of the switches have to be turned off.
Are we supposed to be giving away the pro-tuners secrets?

Yeah, you can set one table lower and use the other (mph or rpm) to control the shifting. I tried setting rpm to 1000 or so for all shifts and then using mph, but it really didn't do much good. That isn't really a pro tuning secret IMO. Days like today make me want to take the A4 and throw it away.
Don't give up! hang in there and experiment. You might come across the cure. Keep reading and do a search on previous posts on the subject.(you probably have already haven't you!)
Some have learned that their car shifts right when they leave a little softer. Others say their tranny messes up after a hard burn-out. I'll most likely have the shift problem next spring too after I put in my 3200 converter. I've also read posts where the same cure doesn't work for everyone. Don't throw in the toel yet. The answer might be right around the corner!

I've heard from a "little birdy" that it's the VSS that gets screwed up after a hard launch.
That's why changing the mph to something really low and leaving the rpm where it's at is supposed to work. Well....it worked on a buddies car anyways.
You were just trying it backwards.

It appears to have been fixed. Because it needed it, I did a transmission fluid and filter change. I did nothing else and it now shifts fine at the ultra-lowered test-point of 5500 for the 2-3. I have to bump it back to 6500 for a full test, but looks good so far.
Thanks for the replies. Automatics are funny things and all ideas are worth mentioning.

I'm new to the A4 tunning, but I've never seen a table that alows you to change the rpm for your shift. I did see a table for kickdown rpm, but I thought that it controled the rpm of when the tranny will downshift. If there is a table for the rpm shift, will someone let me know.

Kickdown RPM threshold is the RPM your engine must reach before the transmission will shift to the next gear. For instance, if you have the 1-2 shift mph set at 3 mph but you have the RPM threshold set at 6200, the car will not shift until it has reached BOTH 3 mph AND 6200 rpm.
