Question about tuning?
I have a 97 TA M6 with a powerdyne blower 4.5 psi with a few bolt on's such as exhaust no headers 160 t-stat, granatelli MAF ,accel ignition ngk plugs nothing really that much i did a larger K@N filter and a soild intake so it should be making a little more boost water injection is on the way my ? is i have it at a shop right now they are repalcing the valve springs because they were weak so i couldnt make full use of the blower also had 9 degress timing retard that they are going to correct will i benefit from the wide band tuning they are going to do and what does that mean what do they do will i gain more hp after they do that will they car run better any help would be great THANKS.....
No i ask questions i just was curious on what you guys had done to your cars and what i could gain from a wide band tune and what was involed if it even needs it done i was told yes but just wondering....
Oh, if thats what you were getting at. Yes, everything they told you appears to be desirealbe. Now, if they actually know what they are doing and you don't get a bill for a grand you would have found a good shop.

You may gain some HP from the dyno tune. It all depends on what the car likes. You may be pulling 9 deg of timing from false knock or that may end up being where the motor likes it. Hence, no gain from timing. Also you may find that your WOT AF could be better which may give more HP. You may also find that your injectors are maxed at WOT (duty cycle too high). There would be HP there. So it all depends. Chances are you can pick up some HP but how much HP vs. how much $ to do it is the trade off.

Well I was told I was not even close to were the hp level should be. Also the car was making 211 rwhp before the blower so you tell me if it was running right. With the blower it made 315 rwhp I dont know much but I know the TA m6 should dyno more than that stock. So yes the car had a problem 1 bad valve springs. 2 9 degrees false knock,3they didnt even do a wide band tune yet. So I guess I have to wait to see what I will gain I hope for the best and I hope for at least 350 to 360 rwhp. I just was wondering what a wide band tune was. The company doing the tuning is one of the best tuners in N.J. THERE NAME IS CARTEK look up there web see what you guys think money to me isnt an issue Im just want it done right.THANKS
