Program or not to program

Im thinking about buying the tuner cat program and a cable and doing my own programming. Is all I need is tuner cat or do I need something else to go with it? I have no experence doing this stuff, so with that said should I just buy the cable and let the professionals send me the e-mail programs as I dont want down time for my car sending the pcm in.The car is a 94Z28 A4

First of all, you got to ask yourself, do I have the kind of mods that require tuning.

If yes, then you need to determine what to tune. You do that with a scanner.

So, you use a scanner to see what the various engine functions are at, then determine which ones need altering, then you use TunerCat to make those changes.
