Re: pro chips
There are no replaceable "chips" on your 2000 Z28. The PCM has a fixed chip, and needs to be flashed with program changes. You can get handheld programmers that will load canned programs, get software that allows you to program it yourself, go to a shop that has programming software, or get a "mail order" tuner to work up a program for you.
The "chips" you see on eBay are frequently little more than resistors that replace or are added to various sensors in an attempt to fool the PCM into producing a few extra HP. IMHO, they are generally worthless.

Mail order tunes are pretty popular around here. MadZ28 and PCMForLess are both supporting vendors here that come highly recommended. It'll cost you $150 or so, but gains will be minimal on a stock car. The stock PCM program is pretty good.
If you get headers, or a cam, or something along those lines, a tune will help quite a bit.
