PCM on a 1996 Grand Sport hot enough to purn you
Where do I start....the vehicle in question is a 1996 Grand Sport Corvette #344...has the Z51 suspension and about 34K miles. All that may or may not be important. Pretty much it has sat the last 3yrs because of some electrical problems. The opti has been replaced twice in that time, the MAF has been replaced twice and the PCM also twice. The cooling fans won't turn on unless the A/C is on. The car has just up and quit a few times....but that seems to have been fixed when they found a shorted wire in the PCM harness. Right now the car takes 3-5 five second cranks before she actually starts. I drove it aroudn the neighborhood for about 6min. The engine sounds healthy and has the power it should. However when I got back home I touched the PCM and I had to remove my hand immediatley because it was so flippin hot. Is this normal? I guess my dad and I are just at a loss on whats wrong with this thing. When we got tired of messing with it we took it to a stealership (I know I know) and they had it like 4 times for a total of 2-3wks and it cost us over $7500 (we also repaired some other things). Yet its still not back to 100%. Also the latest problem is the tach no longer registers anything while the car is running. Any ideas guys? Thanks for anything you can offer!
