Painless Engine Management System

Not sure if this is the right forum, but i'll give it a shot...

Opening up the new jegs catalog, I couldnt help but notice that the first item on the first page is a stand alone engine computer and wiring harness for TBI and LT1 engines from Painless Performance. PN for the LT1 unit is 764-65105.

http://www.jegs.com//cgi-bin/ncommer...28&prmenbr=361

Anyone familiar with this unit? is it easily programmable, is it just a stock replacement, a good substitute for more expensive ecu's, etc?

Any info or discussion is appreciated.

Re: Painless Engine Management System

Looks like a simplied version of an LT1 PCM rather than a real stand alone system. From their description, it's just for stock vehicles (will mostly be used by people who swap into older vehicles) and it really doesn't look like you can program it. If you can, I can guarantee you it won't be any different than a stock PCM.

More or less a ripoff in my opinion.

I tuned an old G-body with an LT1 and a painless harness on it, you can tune it.

Re: Painless Engine Management System

That's two different things. A painless harness is just a simplified replacement harness using the stock PCM while this comes with its own PCM.
