I've built several 4l60 trannys, and 1870 is a code for the tcc or the torque converter clutch. Most tranny shops will sell you an over haul if you take it in with this code, but if it just started you might be able to fix it fairly cheap. if this has been coung on for a while there is a goodchance you will need a rebuild. PM me if you need any info on this.

Its pretty simply, Pull the valve body, pull the tcc valve and replace it with a new one that comes in a trans-go shift kit. What happens is that the valve wears the valve body a little bit in one spot towards the end. The new valve looks a good bit different than the older one. It changes the place wear the older valve used to run. I work at a transmisson shopand we have 4l60e's come in all the time with that code, replace the valve and it fixes the problem every time. Dont let no one fool you in to getting it rebuit. At the most you would need another valve body and thats only if it the car has been doing it for a long, long time. Reason being is that the older valve wore the valve body som much that the new valve cant fix it. Dont let yourself get hasseled.
