One heck of a gremlin in my Z28
One heck of a gremlin in my Z28
So my cars been in storage (driven about once every couple weeks for a few miles) for about 2 years now. However I'm in Florida for work for the next month and decided to drive it down. Took it to a mechanice to make sure it was ok for the trip and he said everything good to go. Now for today:
Drove it down to the store to pick something up. Ran fine. When I came out and tried to start it, all lights started flickering really fast and car refused to start. Sounded like a dead battery sort of, except for the flickering lights. Got a jump and after several tries, it started. Let it run for about 10 minutes and when I gave it just a little gas, the radio cut off. More gas and the entire instrument cluster went berserk. Needles were all over the place and every light on it was flashing. Managed to get it home sputtering and flashing the whole way. Turned the car off, waited and then tried to turn it on. Completely out of juice.
Any ideas at all? I've had to deal with some power issues before, but never anything like this. I'm thinking maybe computer?

Re: One heck of a gremlin in my Z28
lol maybe an intermittent ground or something. I don't think Ive ever heard of a 'bad pcm' in this sense, and if there were one it would probably have very anticlimactic symptoms.
Re: One heck of a gremlin in my Z28
also think about your ignition switch. i recently had mine go out. and ive heard some crazy symptoms from them. mine actually acted just like a failed opti. then when it finally wouldnt crank or anything i noticed the fuel pump wouldnt prime. then i knew it was the switch.

One way to test if it's the PCM is to start the car, and then get a screwdriver and tap the PCM with the handle (only hard enough to "jog" it...), and if the engine stumbles, it's a PCM issue.
