oil temp settings in tunercat

on the constants table of the $EE def, there is a setting for "fan 1 on, oil temp", and one for fan 2.

where does it get this temp reading from? my fans are coming on about 30 secinds after startup, and staying on (which might be a good thing here in texas). i even see an oil temp reading in datamaster. what sensor does it use. i have both the oil level, and oil pressure sensors disconnected.

Our cars don't use an oil temp sensor, only the vettes have them.
Are you getting an SES light?

I don't think the problem is in TunerCat or the fan settings. If you had an SES lite I'll bet it would be on. Depending on what the pcm is not seeing or missing the fans will come on automaticly.

You need to scan your pcm and find out what it says and what code is being sent, then that will tell you where the trouble is coming from.

Once corrected the fans will only come on when needed and not 30 sec. after the car is started.

I agree that it has nothing to do with the fan turn on points. You have an SES or something that is turning the fans on.
Someone else will know more about this than I do...hopefully they will chime in.
But it's not any fan turn on points.
