OBD2 to OBD1 do pins need to be changed around?
I'm going to be changing my friends 97 bird to an OBD1 pcm. I know I need to change the knock sensor but is there anything else? I had a guy tell me I will need to swap some of the pins around but I have no idea. Also will I still be able to read codes? I know I will have to use the OBD2 cable but do I need to change the location of the wires in the OBD2 port to be able to work with the auto Xray?
Why not switch to a 12-pin OBD-I connector. Here are the locations of the wires in the 12-pin and 16-pin OBD-I ALDL connectors, courtesy of Shoebox:

Is your scanner for OBD-I? Generally, an OBD-I scanner will have a 12-pin connector included. They typically require an adapter plug to connect to the 16-pin connector used in the 95.
Mine is for 1 and 2. It has all the cables. OBD1 cable and OBD2 cable plus chrysler and ford
This is going from memory but I didn't have to do anything when I swapped a 95 computer in. Also, the resistor was changed in the computer to work for a 96 knock sensor. So all I had to do was change computers back and forth without changing anything else.
I just did the same thing on my 97. I did the resistor mod on the PCM. Also, I use the OBD I cable for the AutoXray and hook it up like this.

And everything works fine.
