OBD2 Autotap users inside please

I need a scan tool for my 97 Trans am. I have decided Autotap is the best one. However does anyone know if the generic version has everythnig i need to tune the car with ? Does it measure the BLMs? I know the more expensive Enhanced Version does but just wondering if the Generic version does too.

I have

Sorry cant answer that, I have the enhanced version and its already payed for itself when I did an 1996 Dual Cat LT1 Swap. There is supposed to be a new version out that you can edit with too, but I have not read up on it yet, check out their web site and go to the user forum and read up, maybe someone there can answer this.

It is almost totally useless without the enhanced package. I have the enhanced package for my 96 Trans Am....On it, you can load an example config file and log file. Its only generic parameters example...which is only a very few things. Generic will not tell, BLMs, O2values or anything like like. It only tells speed/mph/knock retard/ignition voltage and a few other main ones...nothing worth buying. Just get the enhanced version...Its definently worth it.

As far as I know, the "EFILive" version, that allows changing the program parameters as long as the AutoTap program remains "attached', is only for LS1 family of engines.

Here's the AutoTap list of the "Generic" version capabilities:

A/C System Refrigerant Monitoring Status
Auxiliary Input Status
Catalyst Monitoring Status
Comprehensive Component Monitoring Status
ECT
EGR System Monitoring Status
Engine Load
Engine Load
Engine Speed
EVAP Vent Solenoid Command
Evaporative System Monitoring Status
Fuel Pressure
Fuel System Monitoring Status
Fuel System Status Bank 1
Heated Catalyst Monitoring Status
IAT
Ignition Timing
LTFT B1
LTFT B2

MAF
MAP
Misfire Monitoring Status
O2 Sensor - B1S1
O2 Sensor - B1S1 (mV)
O2 Sensor - B1S2
O2 Sensor - B1S2 (mV)
O2 Sensor - B1S3
O2 Sensor - B1S4
O2 Sensor - B2S1
O2 Sensor - B2S2
O2 Sensor - B2S3
O2 Sensor - B2S4

OBD Requirements
Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitoring Status
Oxygen Sensor Monitoring Status
Secondary Air System Monitoring Status
STFT B1
STFT B2

Throttle Position
Vehicle Speed
One downside of the "Enhanced" version is memory requirements. If you are using an older laptop it will be slow to load. When I complained, they told me it really needed 64meg RAM.... not a problem with a newer machine, but my P2 Toshiba w/ 20meg RAM needs to be replaced. The enhanced version takes almost 10 minutes to load, and indicates that it has checked over 4,000 engine parameters as it loaded.

Wow, im a newbie again. Somehow I locked myself out of this site by changing my cookies options. Anyhow, If what i said above was wrong...im sorry, for giving bunk info. However, in my version of autotap in the example(which it says is a generic version example), its has this symbol "~" next to most of the options. It says something like....~=enhanced parameters not purchased. Im pretty sure it has that for the O2 values and the others. I probably have a messed up version or something.

If I would have known the generic version did all of the above...i would have just bought it. Those are about the only things i ever log anyhow.

Anyhow...just listen to freds post. He is right more often than not.
