OBD-1 with cam?

Hey guys, Im getting a Joe O custom grind cam, 3.73s, and my long tube headers with no cats, I was just wondering if I should go with the OBD-1 tuned pcm from madz28, as ive heard some great things about them, or if I should just try a dyno tune, I dont really have the money for the dyno tune, but I guess I can save up for it if you guys think its worth it.

Thanks Alot guys,

Chris

Re: OBD-1 with cam?

Chris,
This is the same kind of question that's been asked on here repeatedly.
I think most will agree that a "dyno" tune is going to win out on a mail order tune 95% of the time, other than the typical hotcam tune.
I'm sure that the mail order guys have some of the more typical stuff nailed down pretty good by now.
But nothing will ever beat spending the time to do it yourself. Nothing.

IMHO, to spend a bunch of money on mods only to skimp on the tuning is absolutely ridiculous.

Pretty sure he is talking converted from obd1 to obd2 and getting a tune in the process.

Re: OBD-1 with cam?

To me it sounded like he was asking if he should go mail order (cause it's cheaper) or dyno tune.

Re: OBD-1 with cam?

Seeing that you're an M6 I don't think there's any advantage to swapping other than the software to log and tune on your own are a little cheaper.
If you plan on buying some stuff to tune yourself, then I'd go OBDI for that reason alone.
Again, the dyno tune should beat a mail order tune hands down. Especially with a custom cam from Joe.
