Unhappy New PCM problem

Just curious if anyone else has ever had this problem. Purchase a new pcm and have your VIN put on it. You have LT1 edit but it will not read and says this is an invalid VIN when it is correct..?

That is because lt1_edit doesn't look for the VIN only, and the other thing it looks for cannot be changed.

Email Ken at pcmdoc@surfree.com and explain the situation. If he's in a good mood, he'll send you an update for the new PCM, or else, you'll need to purchase one.

Ion, is Ken @ carputing or a different company?

Is this a problem with LT1_Edit? If your PCM burns up and you replace it there's a possibility that you will have to purchase another copy of LT1_Edit? Am I reading that correctly?

Yes, Ken at carputing.

If it burns up due to programming, it can be fixed (for example I offer this service) which is why they're always wondering why you'd get another one instead of having it fixed. Of course, it could go bad in a way that it cannot be fixed anymore, but either way, they will usually ask for some proof, then give you the files needed to program the new PCM.

With 96 and newer cars, it's even more of a PITA since you actually have to send your cable and PCM in to get an update... and as far as I know, they won't update it free even if it's not your fault.
