I know the serial port is good, and the alsl test passes when the cable is hooked up to my desktop at work.
I just aquired a Compaq Armada 1750 laptop from work. It has windows 98. I had it hooked up at work to alogger using the serial port, so I know the serial port is ok. I have turned off the infared stuff in the hardware profile, and still no luck.

Is there something I'm missing here?

 

I have even uninstalled the mouse, keyboard, modem, and ethernet, and still no luck! I'm about to light this computer on fire!
