More timing that what is commanded?
More timing that what is commanded?
Ok guys, I have a slight problem. What would cause the computer to add more timing that what is commanded at WOT? This is on a boosted LT1 car. It seems like it's adding timing when the MAF maxes out. It jumps from say 20 degrees commanded to 24-25 degrees as read on a Tech 2 scanner. It does this right about 5000-5100 rpm. The IAT table is set to where it will not add timing based on temp, only take away.
This is all the info that I can think of right now, let me know if you have any other questions for me I'll try to answer them.
Thanks for your help!

Every LT1 I've ever logged has shown more timing on the scanner than what is in the table. Usally between 2 and 4 degrees. No one seems to know why. I read somewhere once that it might have to do with advance ground into the cam. Not saying that is the cause, just one theory I read. I also read that if you mark the balancer and install a timing pointer and check it with a timing light it will be dead on what is in the table.
You can look at your logs and at the tables, I believe there is a thread you can search, after 3000 rpm the pcm starts adding it's something like this:
3000 +1*
4000 +2*
5000 +3*
6000 +4*
etc.. something along those lines

Agreed. I have a car set to have 37 degrees od total timing but when i scan it its getting like 40.
I have kind of a simliar problem, I'm getting the usual several degrees advance all over the place, but at WOT it defaults to 26 degrees timing everytime even though I have tried to command as low as 12 degrees. My minimum spark advance is turned down to 8 degrees timing also so it's not that table. I know engineermike had this problem also.
