Seems like the AKM's get the best reviews from you guys..Why is the Mastech 40$ cheaper than the AKM cable, are they different?...

I have a laptop with Windows 98, and basically just wanna run freescan on my 94 LT1 every so often, so i dont spend crazy money on a cable that wont get much use...

any opinions?

 

Some of us just prefer to do business with a fellow board member, like Andrew who runs AKM. If you check the "Computer..... " forum topic page, he's the Moderator.

 

Another vote for Andrew at AKM. I've gotten two cables from him and they are top notch..

never had a problem with akm cables even the new usb cable that others have probs with the akm works great

 

I used Andrew's cables on the OBD1 version of my GT Tuner. I've had nothing but positive experience working with Andrew and his product.

 

here is my story. a friend sold his 94 camaro and i bought his cable he had never used it so i was told. turned out to be a cable from {aldl cable.com} well i tried for a week to get it to work from my laptop still nothing, i went on to the akm website by andrew and downloaded his troubleshooting the serial port to walk me thru this and still couldnt get it to work. so i contacted andrew and told him what was going on, and he told me to try two things to see if that would help, tried that and no worky. then he told me to send the laptop and cable to him and he would see what he could do.come to find out the laptop was okay it was in the cable, a brand new cable from aldl. to make this story short he fixed it and sent it back, the day i got it i hooked it up and it worked perfectly. so on that note andrew will be getting all my busneiss from now on...
