MALF 34 + 16 on LT1
Ok, got the car running today and here's what came up on Datamaster.
Code 34 - MAP low
Code 16 - Low-res Fail
34 - read 3.06" Hg or 10.4 kpa from start to finish despite change in rpm. So I am left only to assume that the sensor or the wiring for it are shot and will see what I can do.
16 - I had to clean the contacts on the opti/pcm wire to get the car to fire over. Idled fine, but when I held it to 2000rpm the tach and PCM read 6375 and then lost power. I let go of the gas and it dropped to idle at 950 or so.
I'm pretty sure that the Code 16 is basically telling me what I already know - that I need to replace the messed up wire between the new opti and the PCM. So I'll do that tomorrow.
But I wanted to post here to be sure, since I'm still new to this and want some feedback in case I'm wrong.
Otherwise, BLMs looked decent. LT held to 124-127 or so on both sides. Temp didn't break 180... in fact, when the fans came on it cooled down to 167-170 for most of the time. Think that's too low to run the engine at? Right now I am running the stock radiator off my original 305 TBI from the car, dual fans, 160* T-stat, and a CSI pump.

'91 RS Camaro - red/black, NA 450hp LT1 355. Set to run 12psi+
'00 C5 Coupe - black/black coupe, my beautiful lawn ornament.

Well, the vac problem was that the wire harness had come unplugged at the MAP. ANd I took the opti wire out and did my best to really scuff up the contact terminals and it runs fine now.
Back to "real-world" problems now... tranny is leaking fluid from SOMEWHERE. Probably the lines to the cooler. Have to take care of that.
