Post Guys who know A4 trannies, shift points...

Right now I have my Kickdown mode MPH's set at 40, 76, and 120. My shift RPM is 5900 and my cam makes power till 6100 RPM's.

Do I have to change the Normal mode and Perfromance mode MPHs too? If so which ones do I change? All across the board?

Also what is low gear upshift MPH?

Thanks

Full throttle shifts are using the Kickdown table. You are well off to tune your normal and performance shift tables also for the best performance.

Since your rear end gear ratio is not known, it will be hard to tell you your shift MPH. also, you may want to go in and change your Kickdown RPM threshold. If you have a few hours, just burn your PCM a bunch and keep going until you get it exactly the way you want it. I have been playing with my shift points, converter lock and unlock points, and trans pressure tables for a while now trying to get a good all around set of A4 tables.

Everything Ryan said was true. Take little steps with it to get the shift points right were you want them. You could possiblly also lower the %tps where kickdown is used (found in ECM Constants table of tunercat). Otherwise I set anything over 70% in Normal (or whatever you use like Performance) to be the same as Kickdown. The Performance switch was only available on Pontiac (unless you moded yours).

And Kickdown rpm is used if you spinning and can not reach the desired mph (or other reasons of course).

I think Low downshift threshold is used to set the lowest point it shifts into 2nd. Will probably fix the not downshifting into 2nd at over 35 mph problem (set it to like 40 and check that). I have not had the time to check this. The 255 is probably for allowing it to shift up at whatever speed (yours is 76).

Kickdown Mode Enable TPS Threshold. Now you'll want to also lower the Kickdown Mode Disable TPS Threshold a corresponding amount.

The later is used because once you enable it you need to Disable it or else it will always be Enabled (even at low %TPS).

Hal- I am losing my mind!! I can not find that in ECM Constants. I am using Tunercat. Do I have a somthing different? Is this a new field- I got my deffintion file about 2 months ago. Sorry for being a Pain in the A$$!! I just looked in my ECM Constants table and can not find it. How many from the top is it once you go into the ECM constants table? Maybe I can count that many down and tell you what I have in its place.

Sorry Kyle, was watching a movie.

The Kickdown settings are second and third from the bottom.

This is using the FormLib 5.8 (under Help/version).

Hard for me to say 96z, I have 3.23s. I think they are. I have mine set much lower considering my gearing, like 70 for 2nd and 105 for third but I have lower rpm thresholds because I was overdriving my supercharger to get more low end boost.
