Lt4 knock module?
Lt4 knock module?
I have a 94 Lt1 and was thinking about changing the stock lt1 knock module to the lt4. Alls i have done to the car is a catback and a cai. Will this do anything for me power wise, how will it make the car run, and is it worth the money? Thanks....
I believe that the lt1 modules are very sensitive so therfore they give false knocks and the car loses some power...So when people put the lt4 one in it isn't as sensitive because the lt4s have rockers and other things so they don't give a false knock..This is what i believe, could be wrong...
The knock module is a simple filter circuit. It filters mechanical noise signals coming from the knock sensor, eliminating engine noises that might be confused with knock. The LT4 engine had noisier full roller rockers, so they altered the filter to prevent the rocker noise from causing knock retard.
Its not a matter of being more or less sensitive, its a matter of what noise signature the module filters out. It isn't a cure all for noisy exhausts, etc., although some people seem to feel it is.
Put a scanner on your PCM. If you don't have any knock retard, you don't need to change your knock module.
