LT1 edit or Tuner cat

Myself and two other buddies were thinking of going together and getting one of these systems to tune our cars. Mine is a 94, and their cars are 97's.

Do either of these systems work for multiple cars that are ODB1 or ODB2?

Re: LT1 edit or Tuner cat

I don't know if Tunercat ever came out with an OBDII version. When I had to tune the stroker in my '97 WS6, I HAD to use LT1 Edit, as they were the only OBDII tuner available at the time. For $550, I was locked to only one PCM. It was something like $3000 to be able to tune an unlimited number of OBDII PCMs.

Re: LT1 edit or Tuner cat

I have LT1 edit. I like for it putting in different tunes for diff applications such as adding 2 deg of timing for NA and then retard timing for NOS. Some of the stuff is a bit tedious and meant for the advanced user.
I have heard that Tunercat is more user friendly and definitely cheaper.

If you understand a lot of intricate car terminology and how it works and why, LT1 edit is good.
I know that LT1 edit has a logging scanner for extra $, that if your SES light comes on, it will tell you what code is tripped.
I dont know to much about Tunercat.

They both have their pro's and con's.

Check out their websites.

There are forums out there and mailing lists where people really know their stuff. It can be quite profound.

Tunercat does have both versions now available and they are cheaper than the competitors. I would look at their site. www.tunercat.com

Re: LT1 edit or Tuner cat

There is no single package that will work for both those cars. You need an obd1 package for a 94, and obd2 for the 97s. You can get obd1 from tunercat and a cable for about 200, and obd2 for about 400 (comes with a cable).

So basically around 600 if you go with tunercat. LT1edit would be 1000 plus since it is vin locked and you would need 2 obd2 licenses.
